Acker Stadt Palast
Ackerstraße 169/170, 10115 Berlin
Facebook EVENTS
The Ukrainian program at UP TO THREE - andernorts II is part of the Kyiv Contemporary Music Days in Berlin concert series.
ABOUT
UP TO THREE is a festival format in which the musicians of ensemble mosaik present themselves in small formations: a maximum of three musicians including guests perform simultaneously on the stage of Acker Stadt Palast in Berlin Mitte.
This year’s edition, UP TO THREE - andernorts II, is a co-production of ensemble mosaik and Kyiv Contemporary Music Days that will feature a special program of Ukrainian new music. Pieces by Ukrainian composers Anna Arkushyna, Anton Koshelev, Boris Loginov, Anna Korsun, Mykhailo Chedryk, and Adrian Mocanu will be performed, along with works by contemporary composers from around the world, by the musicians of mosaik and selected guests, including Vladyslav Indyk (guitar), Viktor Rekalo (cello), and Albert Saprykin (keyboard).
The title andernorts (elsewhere) looks back at last year’s festival motto and expands it to include an examination of other places and cultures, including a focus on contemplation of nature. Intercultural concepts will be deepened and further developed in new collaborations.
Over two days, the mini-festival will present selected compositions as well as studies and experiments from the workshops of the participating musicians and composers. Performer-composer teams focus on themes from current projects in ensemble work and explore new ideas and experiments in joint work phases over longer periods of time. This research work gives rise to compositions and concepts that are to be presented and discussed in public.
The event is a cooperation between ensemble mosaik, Kyiv Contemporary Music Days, and Acker Stadt Palast, supported by initiative neue musik Berlin.
Friendly guidance and advice by Goethe-Institut.
