Ukrainian classical musicians support fund
REPORT FOR THE PERIOD 18.03 — 16.04
Hi. Kyiv Contemporary Music Days speaking.
On March 18, 2022, we created the Fund for Support of the Ukrainian Academic Music Community for the time of the full-scale military invasion of Russia into Ukraine.
Here we publish a report on the first month of the Fund's work.
1. ACTIVITIES AND PROCESSES
Briefly on what the KCMD team did to ensure the effective operation of the Fund
1.1. FUNDRAISING: THE UNPLAYED CONCERT
Together with the team of the Unplayed Concert, KCMD organized a charity online concert of prominent Ukrainian classical musicians who left their homes due to the war.
We broadcasted the concert from the empty main stage of the Lviv National Philharmonic.
About 65% of the donations collected by the Fund during first two weeks took place on the day of the concert and in the next three days after.
THE UNPLAYED CONCERT STREAMING PARTNERS
We are grateful to each and every person who works in the organizations that became broadcasting partners of the charity concert:
Birmingham Contemporary Music Group
Österreichische Gesellschaft für zeitgenössische Musik
Moldovan National Youth Orchestra
EUYO - The European Union Youth Orchestra
Ukrainian Contemporary Music Festival
1.2. FORMING THE FUND BOARD
To ensure that the Fund's decisions are balanced and applications are considered democratically, we have set up a board to evaluate applications and agree on assistance. We also have built the board's work processes.
We are grateful to each member of the working group for their willingness to invest their time in the work of the Foundation.
1.3. PROCESSES ADJUSTMENT
In the first days of the Foundation's existence, we dealt with, among other things, the following:
Ensuring the legal aspects that enable NGO KCMD to accept and to make donations.
Establishment of mechanisms for receiving the contributions in three systems – payments via SWIFT, WayForPay (payment via Visa and Mastercard), and PayPal.
Development of a system of communication with donors.
Development and deployment of a system for receiving, sorting, evaluating and accounting the applications and transmitting them to the board.
Development and deployment of a communication system with musicians whose applications have been evaluated.
Deployment of the financial accounting system.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The main thing is that we continue to accept donations: the funds raised so far will be enough to support around 180 applicants, which around 40% of the requests we received.
There are a few ways you could help the Fund:
2. Spread the word
It would be helpful if you find an opportunity to spread the information about the Fund to individuals and institutions — in Ukraine and abroad — that can help us by spreading the word further and by contributing.
Materials that may come in handy:
3. Organize charity projects, raise funds and donate them to the Fund
Do as we did with the Unplayed Concert!
We will publish the next detailed report in a month, between May 16 and 22.
In the meantime, we are focusing our efforts on application processing and fundraising.
Yours, KCMD Team
